Brazil agchem sales up in September
The Brazilian pesticide market was up in September compared with the same month last year in national currency terms, according to the Brazilian agrochemical industry trade association, the Sindag. Sales rose by 8% to R$1,888.5 million last month against September 2008, its information chief Ivan Amancio Sampaio told Agrow. The rise follows falls in the winter months of June and July ( Agrow No 574, p 21). September is a key month in Brazil, coming as the planting season starts. This year’s crop area is largely unchanged from that of 2008 ( Agrow No 578, p 20).
