Brazil fines BASF on agchem offence
Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment (Ibama) has fined BASF R$470,000 ($271,000) for the unlicensed production and sale of a pesticide. Ibama seized 99 15 kg bags of the organophosphate insecticide, Granutox 150 G (phorate), in early October. “The fine is for production and sale of the insecticide not conforming with its obtained permit,” the Ibama explains. The Ministry gave the company 20 days to present its defence to its findings.
