US industry concern over atrazine review
The US industry association, CropLife America (CLA), has raised concerns over the EPA’s latest review of the herbicide, atrazine. The Agency has begun a one-year examination of the potential effects of the herbicide on human health, based on studies that have become available since it decided to re-register atrazine in 2003 ( Agrow No 578, p 16). The Obama adminstration decided to take a “hard look” at the decision made by the previous government. That followed calls by an environmentalist group for the herbicide to be phased out ( Agrow No 575, p 19).
