First soy rust appears in Brazil season
The first appearance of Asian soybean rust ( Phakopsora pachyrhizi) in Brazil this year has been reported in the state of Mato Grosso, the country’s agricultural research corporation, the Embrapa, notes. It cites the rust monitoring association, Consórcio Antiferrugem. The Brazilian soybean farmers’ association, the Aprosoja, has confirmed the reports and says the appearance has come 22 days earlier than the first incidence last year. However, it notes that planting was not delayed this year because there was adequate rainfall. Some 18 incidences had been reported by mid-November.
