Biopesticide boom forecast
Sales of biopesticides, biochemical pesticides and beneficial insects in North America and western Europe are forecast to grow by more than 70% over the next six years, according to UK market research firm Frost & Sullivan. Sales of these products amounted to $594.2 million in 2008 and are projected to reach $1,020.2 million in 2015. The major growth factor in the market is the “escalating demand for chemical-free crops from end users and supermarkets”, says Frost & Sullivan analyst Yeshwanth Kumar Desikamani.
