Dow to buy Canadian seed firm
Dow AgroSciences has agreed to acquire the Canadian seed business, Hyland Seeds (Blenheim, Ontario), from parent company Thompsons for an undisclosed sum. The planned purchase would include three research sites and a maize seed production facility. Hyland specialises in maize, small-grain cereals, soybeans and other beans. It is seen as a welcome addition to Dow’s business. “It strengthens the northern tier genetics to benefit Canadian and the northern US seed industry,” says Dow AgroSciences Canada’s president and CEO, Jim Wispinski.
