Low agchem residues in two Brazilian fruits

More than nine out ten samples of apples and papayas in Brazil have borne residues within recommended limits over the past four years, the Ministry of Agriculture’s secretary of agricultural defence notes. The findings come from the agriculture and agrarian reform commission’s (SDA) pesticide residue control programme. The Ministry of Health survey for 2008 found a fall in residues above maximum residue limits (MRLs) or of unregistered pesticides ( Agrow No 568, pp 18-19).
