French court fines GM grapevine mower

A French court in Colmar in the Haut-Rhin principality has imposed a fine of €2,000 ($2,992 million) on the person responsible for the destruction of field trials of genetically modified fanleaf virus-resistant grapevine rootstock, reports French news service InfOGM. The trials were being conducted at Colmar for four years by the French national institute for agricultural research, the INRA. They were destroyed in September ( Agrow No 576, p 12).
