New Zealand drafts bee testing regime
The New Zealand Environmental Risk Management Authority (ERMA) has issued draft data requirements to assess the risks of new pesticides to bees and other non-target invertebrates. Large-scale trials are not always appropriate to assess such risks, the ERMA points out. It has drawn up new data requirements following a review of the tiered approach adopted in the EU. They are open to public comment until February 26th 2010 on the ERMA website: http://www.ermanz.govt.nz/consultations/consult-invertebrates.html.
