Portugal OKs fluopicolide products

Portugal has approved two products containing Bayer CropScience’s oomycete fungicide, fluopicolide. Volare (fluopicolide 62.5 g/litre + propamocarb hydrochloride 525 g/litre) and Profiler (fluopicolide 4.4% + fosetyl-aluminium 66.6%) were granted registration this month. Volare is a suspension concentrate formulation for use against downy mildew in several vegetable crops and especially late blight ( Phytophtora infestans) in tomatoes and potatoes, while Profiler is a water-dispersible granule for use on grapevines against downy mildew ( Plasmopara viticola). The registrations preclude applications near water courses. The same products are sold in Italy as Volare and R6 Erresei Albis ( Agrow No 560, p 23). Fluopicolide was first approved in the UK and China in 2006 ( Agrow No 485, p 21).
