Bulgaria to harmonise GMO rules with EU
Bulgaria is to harmonise its legislation on genetically modified organisms with EU requirements, reports Bulgarian news wire Novinite. The decision came after lengthy debate in the Parliament. It is reported that Bulgaria has much stricter laws on GMOs compared with the rest of the EU. It was one of the 11 countries that urged the European Commission to come up with options under which EU member states may legally ban EU-approved GM crops ( Agrow No 571, p 12).
