Buffer zones top EPA's fumigant risk management list

Buffer zones to protect people living and working near treated fields are at the top of EPA's list of potential risk management strategies for soil fumigants, published last week. EPA sets out several buffer zone systems along with other risk management measures and asks for advice on the practicality and efficacy of these strategies in protecting bystanders, including workers not involved in the application, fumigant handlers, and helpers, as well as information on current fumigant use and practices.
