Agencies disagree over atrazine effects on several endangered species

Federal wildlife scientists disagree with EPA's determination that atrazine use in the Chesapeake Bay watershed will not have adverse impacts on five species protected under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The disagreement, outlined in a response sent last month to EPA, means the agency must formally consult with the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) to reconsider the potential impacts of the pesticide on the species in question.
