Groups tread familiar ground with EPA review of perchlorate science

Environmentalists and state environmental officials continue to press EPA to regulate perchlorate in drinking water, arguing there is ample scientific evidence for the agency to take action to limit the public's exposure to the widely found chemical. But other stakeholders — notably water utilities and state agricultural departments — are far from convinced and worry EPA may be prematurely taking steps toward setting a national drinking water standard for perchlorate despite lingering questions about exposure levels and risks.
