Expansion in cereal area in France in 2008
The area under cereal crops in France in 2008 increased by 6.1% over the previous year, according to the French Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries’ statistics agency, Agreste. The increase was led by higher acreages under the main cereal crops of soft wheat, barley and maize. The area under oilseeds went down, largely on account of a decrease in the area under oilseed rape, although the area under sunflower increased.
