Syngenta records strong second quarter
Syngenta recorded agrochemical sales of $2,880 million in the second quarter of 2008, an increase of 27.5% over the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Buoyed by first-quarter sales growth of 30.8% ( Agrow No 542, p 6), the company recorded a rise of 29.1% to $5,554 million in the first half of 2008, representing a 21% increase at constant exchange rates (CER). First-half earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were up by 34.1% to $2,019 million (25% at CER). The EBITDA margin rose from 35% to 36.3%.
