MAI sales flat in first quarter
Makhteshim-Agan Industries’ (MAI) agrochemical sales were largely flat in the first quarter of 2009 compared with last year as a stronger US dollar impacted the results. The business inched 1.2% higher to $681.2 million, boosted by sales in Europe and North America. Sales rose more strongly in currencies in which MAI operates. This year’s first quarter still represents a record performance after two years of high double-digit gains. Sales jumped by a third in the first quarter of 2008 ( Agrow No 544, p 4).
