Record year for DuPont despite Q4 slippage
DuPont posted record agrochemical sales in 2008, despite a downturn in the fourth quarter of the year. The business had a “banner year”, with sales of its new insecticide, Rynaxypyr (chlorantraniliprole), reaching $50 million, says Jim Borel, group vice-president of the agriculture and nutrition sector. Agrochemical sales are not disclosed at this stage. Favourable margins and productivity improvements drove “substantially increased” earnings and strong cash flow from the agrochemical business, Mr Borel adds.
