UK revokes uses under new EU MRL regulation

The UK Pesticides Safety Directorate (PSD) has identified a number of UK authorised pesticide uses that must be revoked. This follows the coming into force of the new EU maximum residue limits (MRLs) regime under Regulation 396/2005 on September 1st ( Agrow No 539, p 13). The PSD had been involved in an extensive exercise, comparing existing UK MRLs with those needed, to identify the uses at risk. It started with the “first tranche” of MRLs published under Regulation 149/2008 and has since identified on-label uses and specific off-label authorisations (SOLA) that must be cancelled.
