More warnings on impact of EU agchem changes

EU plans to incorporate new hazard-based criteria into the EU agrochemical registration process could eliminate 26 to 51 active ingredients when their existing approvals come up for renewal, estimates the UK Pesticides Safety Directorate (PSD). However, the actual fate of these ais is uncertain until definitive criteria are established, particularly with regard to potential endocrine disruptors, it stresses. The PSD has updated its impact assessment of the EU plans following the European Parliament's approval in January of proposals that will replace the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414 – Agrow No 560, p 6).
