Redsun’s PMIDA plant set for 2010
Chinese agrochemical company Redsun (Nanjing) has begun construction of a 200,000 tonnes/year N-(phosphonomethyl) iminodiacetic acid (PMIDA) production facility. PMIDA is a chemical intermediate used in the manufacture of the herbicide, glyphosate. The facility is being built in Wanzhou, Chongqing, and has an investment of Yuan 980 million ($143.8 million). Redsun hopes that the new plant, set to be completed in 2010, will generate sales of some Yuan 5,000 million ($733.5 million). The company claims that the plant will be the largest PMIDA production facility in the world.
