Syngenta's agrochemical sales steady in 2006
Syngenta's crop protection revenues were flat in 2006, rising by just 0.8% to $6,378 million. However, this was seen as a "particularly strong performance" as the company gained market share driven by new products, chief executive officer Michael Pragnell says. The business outperformed a challenging market due to the strength of its portfolio and the success of its marketing strategy, Syngenta adds. For the fourth quarter, crop protection sales rose by 7.1%, but only by 5% at constant exchange rates (CER).
