Slight recovery for Bayer in first quarter
Bayer CropScience's crop protection sales rose by 1.5% to Euro 1,434 million ($1,880 million) in the first quarter of 2007. Revenues were up by 6.5% after currency and portfolio adjustments. High commodity prices, expansion of crop areas due to the biofuel boom and an early start to the European season drove growth, Bayer says. Herbicides, fungicides and seed treatments performed particularly well.
