Canadian approvals 2006/07

The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) approved ten new pesticide active ingredients, including five reduced-risk biopesticides, in the year ended March 31st 2007. There were 361 uses associated with the conventional ais and 11 uses for the biopesticides. Four new ais were approved during the last quarter of the year: Bayer CropSciences' acaricide/insecticide, Forbid (spiromesifen); FMC's herbicide, Aim (carfentrazone-ethyl); Makhteshim-Agan's insecticide, Rimon (novaluron); and an octenol-based mosquito attractant.
