Chinese agrochemical demand soars
China's regional agricultural departments are predicting heavy demand for pesticides in the second half of 2007 due to the continuation of "serious" levels of pests and diseases in the country. Such conditions boosted first-half pesticide production and sales. It is forecast that the total full-year pesticide output of Chinese companies for domestic and export markets will be 1.4-1.5 million tonnes, reports China Chemical Reporter. A total of 1.3 million tonnes was produced in 2006 (Agrow No 514, p 18).
