EU approval period to be extended for 14 ais
EU member states have supported extensions of up to ten months to the approval periods for 14 active ingredients to allow more time for the assessment and renewal of the authorisations. The new expiry date will be July 31st 2018 for: the herbicides, beflubutamid, glufosinate-ammonium and metribuzin; the fungicides, captan, dimethomorph, folpet and propamocarb; and the insecticides, dimethoate, ethoprophos, fipronil, formetanate, methiocarb, phosmet and pirimiphos-methyl. The existing approvals expire on September 30th 2017, with the exception of beflubutamid, which expires on November 30th 2017. The change was voted through by the EU Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed in December, and requires a formal decision by the European Commission before coming into force.
