Austria runs month-long disposal scheme
A month-long campaign for the disposal of unused or expired pesticides and seeds in four states of Austria has resulted in the collection of over 20,000 litres or kilogrammes. That corresponded to over 15,800 litres of pesticides and 4,400 kg of pesticides and seed. The scheme ran from mid-October at different warehouse locations in the states of Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria and Burgenland. The scheme was run by Austrian warehouse co-operative RWA and the collection was done by Austrian waste disposal company Brantner. RWA plans to create a 2 m2 foraging area for honey bees per litre or kg disposed and will invest in an area of 40,000 m2 in the spring season.
