Uruguay agchem imports up 43% in 2013
Imports of pesticides into Uruguay jumped by almost half (+43.3%) in 2013 to $249.3 million, according to the Ministry of Agriculture's agricultural services directorate general, the DGSS. The import trade reached record heights, comfortably beating the previous high of over $185 million in 2008 before the international financial and trade crisis hit and imports plummeted. Imports particularly recovered in the two years to 2013, following a 30% rise in 2012. The figures do not include imports of raw materials.
