Argentine Casafe to co-develop GAP certification
The Argentine crop protection association, the Casafe, has signed a deal to co-develop standardised accreditation and certification of GAP with the Argentine certification institute, the Iram. The organisations seek to standardise specifications on responsible use of pesticides. The initial aims include the approval by the Iram of the certification programme on safe storage of pesticides, Deposito OK, of Casafe. The association has developed the pioneering voluntary programme over 11 years, licensing some 650 distributors along the way. It is Latin America’s only such system. The certification for the programme has been based upon the UN FAO’s code of conduct. The Iram is a not-for-profit public/private body that seeks to codify unregulated areas including certification of products, processes and technical systems.
