Fine Americas gains US OK for Kudos
French crop protection company De Sangosse's US business, Fine Americas (Walnut Creek California), has received US approval for the plant growth regulator, Kudos 27.5 WDG (prohexadione-calcium), for use on apples, sweet cherries, peanuts and grass grown for seed. The product reduces vegetative shoot growth and lessens the need for apple and cherry pruning, Fine Americas points out. It also shortens internode length in peanuts and grass grown for seed. Prohexadione-calcium has been on the market since the 1990s. It was launched in the US by BASF as Apogee in 2000. The active ingredient entered the US registration review process in 2012. DeSangosse acquired Fine Holdings and its UK and US subsidiaries last year.
