Monsanto plans XtendFlex cotton debut
Monsanto has confirmed that it plans to make a limited introduction of its genetically modified herbicide-tolerant and insect-resistant Bollgard II XtendFlex (MON88701xMON88913xMON15985) cotton in the US through its cotton seed business, Deltapine, and select licensees across the Cotton Belt. As previously indicated, over 500,000 acres (202,000 ha) will be planted. The cotton is tolerant to the herbicides, dicamba, glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium. The USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service deregulated dicamba- and glufosinate-tolerant MON88701 this month. The use of dicamba on the crop has yet to be authorised by the EPA.
