Brazil Piaui state growers want earworm emergency extension
The Brazilian Piaui state soybean growers association, the Aprosoja Piaui, has called for the renewal of approved measures to control earworms (Helicoverpa armigera) under the one-year state of emergency in the state. Were the national Ministry of Agriculture to grant the request, growers would be free to apply emamectin benzoate insecticides. The state was granted the emergency measures last year, one of several states to do so. The Ministry has extended the emergency measures in Mato Grosso and Minas Gerais states from January 15th 2015 and November 27th 2014, respectively.
