Poland adopts European seed treatment standard
Poland has become the fifth European country to have an accredited national agent for the European Seed Association’s quality assurance scheme for seed treatment and treated seed. The Polish seed trade association, the PIN, is the first national agent for the European Seed Treatment Assurance (ESTA) certification in eastern Europe. ESTA combines a number of elements to guarantee professional, high-quality seed treatment applications such as independent certification of treatment sites by accredited auditors, defined quality reference values with a uniform testing protocol, and safe use information and respective labelling for users. Apart from Poland, only Germany, France, Spain and the UK have established a specific national platform for the promotion and management of the scheme.
