GroGenesis targets coffee rust
The US company, GroGenesis (Springville, Tennessee), is seeking to develop an organic fungicide for the control of coffee rust (Hemileia vastatrix). Early trials have shown positive effects within 24-48 hours of initial treatment and "complete remediation" in most cases within several weeks, the company points out. "All early trials have met or exceeded our expectations and now we are turning to the task of protecting our IP [intellectual property], branding, initiating sales and marketing efforts as well scaling production to meet industrial demands," says GroGenesis chief executive officer Jospeph Fewer. The company's first product, AgraBurst, is a plant-based extract aimed at improving nutrient and water uptake.
