Brazil state extends emergency earworm controls
Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture has extended the emergency control regime against earworms (Helicoverpa armigera) for an extra year in Piaui state. The extension runs from January 2015. The regime includes the approved and recommended use of measures such as the application of imported emamectin benozoate-based insecticides. Piaui state soybean growers association, the Aprosoja Piaui, as well as the state authorities had recently called for the emergency state renewal. The extension was issued in the official gazette on January 29th. That follows similar extensions in Mato Grosso and Minas Gerais running from January 2015, and November 2014, respectively.
