France outlines new pesticide reduction plan
The French Ministry of Agriculture has outlined the new version of the Ecophyto plan aimed at halving usage of pesticides in the country. The action comes after a Parliamentary report at the end of December revealed that the original plan, dubbed Ecophyto 2018, had failed to deliver with pesticide use actually increasing. That was due to the previous plan being “too ambitious” without the means to change the production model, says the Minister of Agriculture, Stephane Le Foll. The Ministry began drafting the new plan following the report on the instructions of the Prime Minister.
