Brazil Embrapa tool to evaluate agchem risk to water
The Brazilian agricultural research corporation, the Embrapa, has launched software to evaluate the risk to waterways from pesticide applications. ARAqua is being made available free to growers and interested groups, newswire Agrolink reports. The software assesses risk to ground water, underground water, rivers, streams and lakes, and adds variables such as weather conditions and soil properties, and presents risk quotients for aquatic organisms and drinking water. The environmental agency is employing it to carry out its environmental risk analysis for pesticide registration applications.
