Chile amends rules to cut nematicide use
The Chilean agriculture and cattle service, the Sag, has amended rules on plant nurseries in an attempt to reduce the use of nematicides. Resolution 8908 amends 2011 Resolution 981. It removes Pratylenchus spp as nematodes regulated in soil/substrates. That should eliminate the need for control programmes in nurseries except for highly phytopathogenic species such as P vulnus and P penetrans, the Sag notes.
