Nissan agchem sales up 13% at nine months
Nissan Chemical's agrochemical sales rose by 12.6% to ¥24,182 million ($204.6 million at the current exchange rate) in the nine months ended December 31st 2014. Operating income more than doubled from ¥1,593 million ($13.5 million) to ¥3,533 million ($29.9 million). The company sold higher volumes of the herbicides, Roundudp (glyphosate) and Altair (metazosulfuron), in Japan, while overseas revenues were boosted by the launch of the veterinary medicine, fluralener, in the EU and the US. On a non-consolidated basis, agrochemical sales rose by about 7% in the third quarter and by 11% in the first nine months of the fiscal year ending March 31st 2015. Roundup sales were down by 18% in the third quarter but grew by 22% in the nine-month period. Excluding Roundup, sales were up by 10% for the quarter and by 8% for the nine months.
