Paraguay impounds illegally transported agchems
Paraguayan authorities have decommissioned some 240 litres of fungicides that were being transported in an illegal manner. Regional officials from the plant health inspection service, the Senave, have impounded a load including 12 boxes with four 5 litre packages each of a fungicide with the brand name, Experto. It was loaded and about to be transported as a “common assignment” among other products. Law 3742/09 on the control of agrochemicals states that pesticides cannot be transported in the same vehicle as foodstuffs, drinks, medicines, clothing or other objects that if contaminated could provoke a risk to health, the Senave notes. The service’s legal counsel department is to initiate proceedings to determine those responsible and corresponding penalties.
