US approval for DuPont maize herbicide combo
DuPont has received US approval for a new post-emergence maize herbicide based on established active ingredients. Revulin Q (nicosulfuron + mesotrione) provides contact and residual action against a range of broadleaf weeds including crabgrass (Digitaria spp), Johnsongrass (Sorghum halepense), lambsquarters (Chenopodium album) and pigweeds (Amaranthus spp). It is a dry flowable formulation with a built-in safener, DuPont points out. Growers will be encouraged to use Revulin Q in a programme with pre-emergence products such as Cinch (S-metolachlor) or Breakfree NXT (acetochlor). "This expands the herbicide modes of action to three or more, delivering a high level of control to eliminate key weeds that can reduce corn yield," says DuPont Crop Protection North America business director James Hay.
