ECHA proposes non-approval of triflumuron biocide
The Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has proposed the non-approval of the non-crop insecticide, triflumuron. In the assessment of the active ingredient, no safe use could be demonstrated for the environment, the BPC says. Triflumuron was part of the review of existing ais covered by the EU biocidal products Regulation (528/2012), with Bayer CropScience supporting the dossier. The ai is for use by professionals against house flies and litter beetles indoors and in livestock and poultry houses. The BPC’s opinion will go forward for consideration by the European Commission. Bayer successfully gained EU re-registration for agrochemical uses of triflumuron in 2011.
