China’s pesticide prices fall to new low in 2014
China’s average pesticide prices continued to drop in December 2014, falling by some 2.9% on the previous month, and by around 11.5% when compared with December 2013. The average price index for Chinese pesticide products was down to 88.1, the first time it has dropped below 90, from a base of 100 in February of 2013, reports the China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA). The CCPIA says that prices for pesticide technical material declined continuously throughout the second half of 2014, pointing to weak international demand and overproduction in the domestic industry as possible acerbating factors. The price index in September fell 2.1% month-on-month.
