Container recycling up 11% in Chile
The collection and recycling of empty pesticide packages in Chile rose by 10.7% in 2014 to some 321 tonnes, according to the crop protection industry association, the Afipa. That reveals an acceleration of growth in the second half of the year after an 8% increase in the first half. The collections totalled just over 1 million empty packages that were recycled. Some 92% were destined for “thermal recycling” as an alternative fuel source and 8% to “physical recycling”. The programme included 31 stations and 28 mobile collection points. The rise adds to the 15% growth in 2013.
