Argentina agchem container collection expands
Argentina increased its collection and recycling of empty pesticide containers by 4% last year to some 4,260 tonnes, national media report. That represented over a third (35%) of the available containers in the field. The work is governed by the agrochemical industry association, the Casafe, under the Agro Limpio programme. Newspaper the Clarin adds that Argentina has become the fourth principal nation in empty pesticide collections behind Brazil, Canada and France. There is no national law to implement a collection and recycling system, although the government has recently indicated that it will issue draft legislation on the issue.
