Bayer loses injunction against environmentalists
Bayer CropScience has lost its attempt at maintaining an injunction against German environmentalist group Bund over its warnings that the insecticide, thiacloprid, would harm bees. The company served an injunction earlier this year that the Bund subsequently contested. The group had stated that the active ingredient was “harmful to bees” in a pesticide guidebook and repeated the claim in a press release and on its website towards the thiacloprid products, Calypso and Lizetan. A judge in a Dortmund court revoked the injunction, finding that the Bund had a right to “voice its concerns”, UK environmentalist group Friends of the Earth (FoE) says. Bund is an affiliate to FoE.
