Canada to OK spinosad ant bait
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has proposed the full registration of Scotts Canada's Ortho Home Defense Max ant bait stations containing Dow AgroSciences' established insecticide, spinosad, for the control of ants and ant colonies. It is for domestic use inside and outdoors around the perimeter of homes. Spinosad has a new mode of action against ants in Canada, the PMRA notes. Spinosad is registered for use on a range of food crops, turf and ornamentals against a variety of pests. It was first registered in Canada in 2001. The latest approval decision is open to public comment until April 27th.
