Brazil to expedite GMO combos of approved events
The Brazilian biosafety authority is to expedite approval decisions on the sale and use of genetically modified crop combination event products, for which the individual events already hold registrations. The national technical commission for biosafety, the CTNBio, issued regulation Resolucao Normativa 15/2015 last month authorising the change to the body’s rules. The regulation also holds that applicants who have already submitted approval requests for such products may seek adaptation of the application to the new rules within 30 days. The withdrawal of an approval for a GM event would also affect the approval of combination products containing that event.
