France to require agchem product traceability
France’s Agricultural Act passed in October last year has established the obligation of traceability for all crop protection products sold after January 1st 2016, reports French newswire Agrisalon. The move is designed to keep track of products throughout the supply chain. It will also allow better control and a rigorous follow-up in the event of product recall. Each unit package would bear a Datamatrix or flash code containing the identifier, lot number, and the date of manufacture of the product. These will be communicated to the receiver of each shipment and transfer of product. In order to achieve the flow of homogeneous information from production to users and to facilitate the implementation of traceability at all levels, a working SC Trace Group was formed within the agricultural electronic data interchange association, Agro Edi Europe.
