US study clears neonics as sole cause of bee deaths

The first study of its kind on the chronic sub-lethal effects of the neonicotinoid insecticide, imidacloprid, on whole honey bee colonies has found that real-world exposure levels have a negligible impact on bee colony health. High levels of exposure over abnormally long periods did result in adverse effects, but researchers from the US University of Maryland (UMD) conclude that neonicotinoid insecticides are unlikely to be the sole cause of colony declines.
